Encore alert: The Producers extends with limited one-week season in Parramatta

Theatre lovers can rejoice with Mel Brooks’ hilarious Broadway sensation The Producers visiting Parramatta with a strictly limited one-week season at Riverside Theatres from 15 – 18 May.

After a sell-out five-week season at Hayes Theatre, the award-winning smash-hit musical comedy is back by popular demand, telling the story of a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer Max Bialystock and his meek accountant Leo Bloom, as they try to produce the most infamous flop in Broadway history, only to have their plan backfire enormously.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said he’s thrilled to welcome the comedy masterpiece to Riverside Theatres.

“Riverside Theatres is continuing its record of attracting top class shows and it is exciting to see such a fantastic production like The Producers take Parramatta by storm,” Cr Zaiter said.

“With the original season selling out so quickly, this now gives Western Sydney audiences a chance to enjoy such a fantastic show in our very own backyard.”

Riverside Theatres Director Craig McMaster said he’s excited to partner with Joshua Robson Productions as they bring the acclaimed production of The Producers to a main stage season at Riverside, direct from the sold-out season at Hayes Theatre Co.

“This Tony Award-winning masterpiece by Mel Brooks has captivated audiences worldwide with its sharp wit, outrageous humour and unforgettable musical numbers,” Mr. McMaster said.

“It’s a privilege to present this iconic show at Riverside, showcasing the exceptional talent behind this production to an even wider audience.”

Actor Anton Berezin, who plays the scheming Max Bialystock said The Producers is exactly what the world needs right now.

“The Producers is such a joyously irreverent show, it is little wonder why every single seat at the Hayes has been sold out,” Mr. Berezin said.
“I’m so thrilled Sydney audiences have a second chance to see Mel Brook’s greatest comedic masterpiece at the stunning Riverside Theatre.

“If you missed out on tickets for the Hayes Theatre season, for MEL BROOK’S sake, book now for our limited Riverside Theatres season.”

Joining Anton is a stellar cast directed by Julia Robertson (Metropolis), with choreography by Shannon Burns (Ride the Cyclone) and musical direction by Osibi Akerejola to bring this Mel Brooks classic to life and leave you in stitches.

Tickets for the limited Riverside Theatres season from 15 – 18 May are on sale now.
